BROCKTON – Brockton Mayor Linda M. Balzotti will presenting awards Saturday, March 26th at the Pentecost Unied Methodist Church at 380 W. Chestnut St. in Brockton to organizations and volunteers who repaired and rebuilt the flood-damaged homes of the elderly, disabled and other people in need in Southeastern Massachusetts after the ravaging floods of last Spring.
The entire event, which runs from 3-7PM and is being put together by the Southern Massachusetts Long Term Recovery Group (SMLTG), is to bring the survivors of this disaster together to celebrate the successful repairation of homes and lives by local citizens and organizations. Food will be sponsored by Super Stop & Shop located on 36 New statue highway on Route 44 in Raynham.
“Our member organizations such as Self Help, Inc. the Pentacost Methodist Church and many others are proud to be honored by Mayor Balzotti, and representatives of the office of US Senator Scott Brown, FEMA, Massachusetts Emergency Management Agency, the American Red Cross and members of the Massachusetts Voluntary Organizations Active in Disaster of which we are a part,” said SMLTG spokesperson Paula Farrales. “As well as a celebration, our event is to raise further awareness about the help still needed for our Southern Massachusetts neighbors.
The (SMLTRG) is a partnership betweenl ocal non-profits, state and national agencies, and concerned citizens dedicated to assisting Spring 2010 flood survivors of Plymouth, Norfolk, and Bristol Counties.
